Everything you need to know before ordering a VPS.
- Most orders are provisioned within an hour. New accounts may need verification (KYC) which can take up to 24 hours. Verified accounts get faster turnaround on subsequent orders. Once provisioned, you receive your IP address, root credentials, and console access in your client area.
- Out of the box, you can pick any of our 8 supported Linux distributions. If you need something else (FreeBSD, custom ISO, or a specific Linux version not on our list), open a support ticket and we will usually accommodate it.
- Not currently as a self-service product. All NivaCity VPS Servers run Linux by default. If you need Windows specifically, talk to us about a custom dedicated server configuration.
- Your server keeps running. We do not cut you off. If you consistently exceed the allowance, we will reach out to discuss a custom plan that better matches your usage. No surprise bills.
- Yes, in most cases. RAM and CPU upgrades happen with a brief reboot. Storage upgrades require a small migration window. Open a ticket and we will schedule it with you.
- If you opt in, we run backups daily and store them on offsite S3 storage. Standard tier keeps 7 days of restore points, Pro keeps 30 days. Restores are self-service from your client area, or you can ask support to handle them. We back up your entire server including any attached block storage volumes.
- Game servers and bots: yes, fully supported. Cryptocurrency mining: not allowed on shared physical hosts due to disproportionate resource usage. If you specifically need mining, get in touch about a dedicated server.
